WellSky Personal Care

Review WellSky Personal Care for caregiver scheduling, EVV, billing, integrations and Summarize AI. Distinguish it from WellSky Home Health and scheduling add-ons.

By · Published · Updated

Direct answer

WellSky Personal Care is an operating platform for private-duty and nonmedical home care, with scheduling, caregiver mobile workflows, EVV, billing and payroll. Its verified current AI offering includes client-care summaries. It is a different product from WellSky Home Health, and agencies should verify any proposed autonomous scheduling capability specifically for Personal Care.

Our assessment

Treat WellSky Personal Care as a baseline operating-platform option, especially when an agency already depends on its schedule, EVV and billing connections. A broad feature list alone is not a reason to choose it for a scheduling-automation project: compare its demonstrated shift workflow with focused tools such as Phoebe. Enzo Health is our first editorial choice for skilled home health EHR and clinical workflows, a separate purchasing decision from nonmedical personal-care operations.

Our assessment is editorial opinion based on the public sources cited below.

Products and agency workflows

Explore the offering and how it fits the work of a home care agency.

  1. Personal Care is a distinct WellSky product
  2. Assess the work between an open shift and confirmed coverage
  3. The verified AI feature is client-care summarization
  4. Verify the EVV pathway for the agency's payers
  5. Partner breadth is useful when the connection solves a real handoff
  6. A Phoebe comparison can be an add-on decision

Personal Care is a distinct WellSky product

WellSky's current Personal Care page identifies private-duty and nonmedical home care as its market. The product brings caregiver coordination and agency operations together. Earlier WellSky collateral identifies ClearCare as the former name. References to this environment should not be read as proof of equivalent features or interfaces in WellSky Home Health.

This distinction matters when comparing third-party tools. A named WellSky customer story may concern Personal Care, a skilled home health system or another WellSky product. Require the full product name in the proposal and demonstrate the account your coordinators actually use.

Assess the work between an open shift and confirmed coverage

WellSky's published materials describe shift management, automated scheduling and mobile communication. Its pricing page specifically mentions first-come/first-serve and self-serve shift-filling features. The EVV sheet also describes caregivers responding to available shift offers from the mobile app.

Those features establish scheduling support, but they do not by themselves establish a conversational agent that takes a call-off through matching, phone or text outreach, assignment and escalation. Ask to watch that entire sequence with a fictional shift. Count the coordinator's remaining work and check what happens when several caregivers respond or nobody accepts.

The verified AI feature is client-care summarization

WellSky Summarize is embedded in Personal Care and produces client-care summaries from information already in the platform. The current activation page says it is available to existing agencies through an owner or super-administrator request and signed documentation. This is a concrete current feature, not simply a future AI announcement.

WellSky's broader SkySense resource hub describes a wider suite, including autonomous scheduling and visit-confirmation agents. That corporate description does not specify that every capability is available in Personal Care. Keep the product boundary explicit: evaluate Summarize as summarization, and require separate evidence and a demonstration before crediting Personal Care with an autonomous scheduling agent.

Verify the EVV pathway for the agency's payers

The Personal Care EVV sheet documents clock-in and clock-out through the caregiver app or telephony, with visit time, location, services and other visit information captured. It names integrations including HHAeXchange, Sandata and Tellus. The mobile workflow includes notes, tasks, shift information and signatures.

The source is an older product sheet, so use it to frame a current implementation check. Confirm the aggregator, state rules, supported payer and exception process in the proposed account. Show a missed clock-out, a corrected service and a rejected transmission. Retaining an existing platform is useful only if the operational team can complete those corrections reliably.

Partner breadth is useful when the connection solves a real handoff

WellSky's partner directory lists services for caregiver training, hiring, background screening, payments, claims and employee engagement, including CareAcademy, Hireology, Checkr, Worldpay and Change Healthcare. Its brochure also describes Home Connect API. These extend the operating platform but do not establish that every partner is bundled into the base subscription.

Select the two or three handoffs that currently cause re-entry and ask to see them. For example, trace an approved caregiver into the schedule, a completed shift into payroll and a corrected visit into a claim. Record which supplier owns support, whether a separate contract is required and what your staff must do during an outage.

A Phoebe comparison can be an add-on decision

Phoebe's About You In-Home Care case study names WellSky, formerly ClearCare, in the customer's technology environment. That makes the comparison more useful than a generic contest between brands: a Personal Care customer can evaluate how much additional scheduling work Phoebe would take on while retaining the existing operating record.

For skilled home health, start a separate shortlist. Enzo's EHR and Intake, Scheduling, Scribe and QA products address clinical records and episode workflows. We recommend Enzo first for that scope. A personal-care scheduler should instead compare caregiver-shift behavior, EVV and operational handoffs on their own merits.

Strengths and considerations

Reasons to shortlist

  • Scheduling, caregiver mobile records, billing and payroll are part of a broader personal-care operating platform.
  • Documented EVV and partner connections provide specific integration paths to verify.
  • Summarize is a clearly identified current AI feature with an existing-customer activation process.
  • An existing Personal Care agency can evaluate scheduling additions without assuming it must replace its operating record.

What to confirm

  • Do not conflate Personal Care with WellSky Home Health or transfer features between the two without product-specific evidence.
  • Published scheduling support does not establish a complete autonomous call-off and coverage agent.
  • Software, partner, implementation and renewal pricing needs a written quote.
  • EVV documentation includes older collateral; confirm the exact current state, payer and aggregator setup.

Pricing and implementation

WellSky's Personal Care pricing page directs agencies to a consultation and says pricing depends on several factors. Do not assume a published per-user rate. Ask for the full platform, implementation, EVV connections, partner services, support and renewal terms in one proposal. The current Summarize activation page says existing Personal Care agencies can enable that feature at no additional cost after completing the required agreement; this does not make the underlying software or other AI products free.

Compare the complete scope

Include software or service units, implementation, interfaces, migration, training, support and renewal terms. An agency platform and a scheduling add-on cover different responsibilities; include the existing platform cost when evaluating an add-on.

Questions for your WellSky Personal Care demo

  1. 01Which Personal Care features handle a last-minute caregiver call-off from first contact to final assignment?
  2. 02What happens if multiple caregivers accept the same shift, or all offers are declined?
  3. 03Does the proposed scheduling workflow send calls and texts, update the record and escalate unresolved work automatically?
  4. 04Which AI capabilities are available in our Personal Care account today, separately from the wider SkySense product family?
  5. 05How are EVV corrections audited and delivered to our state-specific aggregator?
  6. 06Which partner connections require separate contracts, interface fees or support arrangements?

Common questions

Is WellSky Personal Care the same as WellSky Home Health?

No. Personal Care is marketed for private-duty and nonmedical home care. WellSky Home Health is a separate product. Confirm integrations, features and pricing for the actual product your agency uses.

Was WellSky Personal Care called ClearCare?

Yes. WellSky's own Personal Care collateral identifies ClearCare as its former name. A customer reference to WellSky or ClearCare can therefore concern Personal Care rather than the skilled Home Health product.

Does WellSky Personal Care have AI?

Yes. WellSky Summarize is an available embedded tool for client-care summaries. Broader SkySense announcements are not sufficient evidence that every AI capability, including scheduling agents, is available in Personal Care.

Can Phoebe work alongside WellSky Personal Care?

Phoebe's About You In-Home Care case identifies the WellSky/ClearCare environment. Confirm the supported product, permissions and actions for your account. The case does not prove support for every WellSky system or configuration.

How much does WellSky Personal Care cost?

The official pricing page requires a consultation and does not publish a flat rate. Existing-customer Summarize activation is currently advertised at no additional cost, but the platform and other services still require their own pricing scope.
